Hello, my glowing goddesses!

During our out-of-the-box October, we’ve covered ways to manifest energy and heal your body and spirit with home remedies and stones + crystals. This week, we’re going to talk about how you can use that luminescent rock in the sky, the moon, to do the exact same thing.

Just like all wondrous things – the circle of life, the changing of the seasons, the popularity of bell bottom jeans – the moon is on a cycle. You can follow its progression across the night sky throughout the month and mirror its energy to release negativity, embrace forgiveness and attract positive mojo through rituals.

With the upcoming full moon on October 24th, this is the perfect time to gather your girlfriends and celebrate the natural ebb and flow of your lives by sending away bad habits, toxic relationships and stress with a cosmic bang.

The next full moon takes place on Wednesday, October 24, 2018, and it will go full frontal at 12:45pm Eastern (9:45am PT). ???? One very cool fact about the full moon is that each one has its own special name. According to The Old Farmer’s Almanac, “Some Native American tribes referred to October’s Moon as the Full Hunter’s Moon, as it was the time to go hunting in preparation for winter.” So let’s channel that spirit by getting prepared for a kickass end to the year.

During the full moon, the sun and moon reside in different astrological signs, which causes a bit of a tug of war to balance the two. Thus, the full moon “reflects emotions and patterns that need attention to be resolved.” This month the moon will be in stable and stubborn Taurus, while the sun is in Scorpio, which is all about exposing those hidden agendas, passions and problems. This setup makes this month a primo time to reevaluate what really matters most to you, reignite your passion and clear the path to the life you truly deserve.

The nice thing about personalizing a ritual is that there is no right or wrong; it’s about whatever feels good to you and helps you focus. Still, here are some basic components to a great full moon ritual.

Set The Mood

Do you want to perform this ritual alone or surrounded by your girls? There is a lot of power in a soulful, like-minded posse, but if you’re not feelin’ it this month, there’s no shame in flying solo.

Pick a space that gives you good vibes, but I do recommend it be somewhere on the quiet side. Nothing kills the buzz of self-care like shouting neighbors or car horns.

Then engage your senses. Play some soft music. Light some candles and bring in some soft pillows to sit on. Spread out your new fancy-schmancy crystals.

With this Taurus Full Moon, your senses may be on overdrive, so experiment with essential oils or incense like cinnamon, clove, or patchouli to inspire passion or citrus to stimulate creativity. Whatever smells get your juices flowing.

Finally, gather all the supplies you’ll need, so when you start the ritual you won’t be running around your house looking for things and breaking your momentum.

Clear Your Energy

Begin the ritual by doing something that grounds you. I like to practice a manifesting meditation, while blogger and self-care guide, Jessica Dimas begins with breath work: “The way I like to ground myself is to first become still, taking a few deep breaths all the way down to my lower stomach/womb.” If you want something more active, try a yoga sequence of Moon Salutations.

You can also take a relaxing moon bath, to wash away the day and set your body into a blissful state. The full moon is all about rebirth, and the Taurus Full Moon enhances the need for some physical TLC (think massages or reflexology). Here’s how to combine your new healing stones and crystals to supercharge your suds!

Purge Your Problems

Then you want to set intentions for your ritual. This is the nitty gritty. The full moon “illuminates those things that are interfering with our spiritual advancements,” so dig deep for what has been getting in the way of your progress and bring it out into the moonlight. It can be anything from a bad habit you can’t shake to a disagreement you can’t move past to a tragic event.

We all the know the power of writing down our goals, so I think it’s important to commit these thoughts and feelings to paper. Get it out, and go into detail. The more specific you can be, the better the Universe can help, so name names, ladies. And this way, you’re also acknowledging where you’ll be focusing your forgiveness and/or gratitude at the end of the ritual.

Plan Your Next Steps

The full moon is the halftime of the lunar cycle, so that leaves you two weeks to hold yourself accountable for the decisions you’ve made during your ritual, process all the feels and tie up any loose ends before the new moon slides into the sky.

According to the amazing AstroTwins, Ophira and Tali Edut, “Each new moon also has a six-month astrological cycle—for example, the March new moon in Pisces always links to the September full moon in Pisces.” This makes it a good idea to think about what you want in your life in the next 6 months as well as how you want the next two weeks to unfold.

Release + Celebrate

Now that you’ve pulled out all the toxic thoughts and emotions from your body, it’s time to release them. When you’re ready, end your full moon ritual by saying “I now let this go. It does not serve me.” If you’ve written your intentions down, you can burn the paper to add an extra element of natural power. (Just make sure you’re being safe with this power. ????)

Close your ritual with gratitude to the Universe, the moon, your tribe (whether they’re with you in person or just in spirit) and yourself!

My challenge for you this week is to plan a full moon ritual!

How will you take time next Wednesday to check in with yourself with honesty and care and manifest some powerful intentions? What are your two-week and 6 months goals?

Remember, there’s no wrong way to do it, so let me know in the comments below!
